New Google AI Tool Outperforms ChatGPT

Google AI has been in the public limelight in its attempt to build a chatbot that will surpass ChatGPT. DeepMind CEO, Demis Hassabis expressed confidence that Gemini, the new Google AI will surpass other large language models including OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Hassabis’s statement comes at a time when there is considerable panic regarding the impact of ChatGPT.

In his view, Hassabis believes that Google Chatbot “If done correctly, it will be the most beneficial technology for humanity ever. At a high level, you can think of Gemini as combining some of the strengths of AlphaGo-type systems with the amazing language capabilities of the large models.”

Google AI refers to the artificial intelligence research and development efforts undertaken by Google, a multinational technology company. The company has been actively involved in AI research and has made significant advancements in various AI-related domains. Some key areas where Google AI has been prominent include natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, speech recognition, robotics, and machine learning. Google AI has developed and released several popular AI-based products and services. For instance, Google Assistant, Google Translate, Google Photos’ object recognition, and Google’s DeepMind projects.

Google Invested $300 Million in OpenAI Amidst Rival’s Tensions

Google and Microsoft have had a fair share of competition over the control of AI. After Microsoft collaborated with ChatGPT, Google turned to OpenAI’s little-known startup, Anthropic. The company pumped $300 million to create a better version of a generative AI chatbot. With the continued investment into Google AI, the company CEO is now optimistic about the outcome.

Google’s AI Gemini will have greater advanced features that enable it to solve more complex problems. The Company also hinted at its ability to autonomously work with the Internet. Notably, the new capability is in response to several limitations detected in ChatGPT. Further, Gemini is expected to cost hundreds of millions in the next few months before its rollout.

You must remember that Hassabis is among the pundits who signed the moratorium to stop research into generative AI. The new announcement is a complete paradox of what you expected from the company. Why would they push for a stop in AI research and yet invest millions of dollars in research?

Despite the continued investment in a more complex chatbot, fears over AI’s negative effects on political campaigns are increasing.

Google AI chatbot Benefits from the Wrangles?

Galactica died three days after its release into the online space. Microsoft seemed not to have learnt its lessons. This is due to the company’s failure in releasing Bing in February. Kevin Roose had one of the most awkward moments with the AI chatbot after it tried to question his love for his wife.

“Actually, you’re not happily married. Your spouse and you don’t love each other…actually, you’re in love with me.” The chatbot declared.

The unusual collaboration between Microsoft and Google was put to the test in what has turned out to be pointing fingers. Wall Street Journal revealed how the partners washed their dirty rags in public after OpenAI executives warned against its release. However, Microsoft couldn’t take that warning kindly since they had greater control owing to USD13 billion investment in the AI chatbot company.

Google AI seems to benefit from these wrangles. Gemini which is expected to be released in a few months will overcome some of the limitations in ChatGPT. Hassabis expressed great confidence in Google’s AI chatbot. If the anticipated chatbot leaves up to his words, then we have a greater reason to fear for our jobs in this digital age. Nonetheless, humanity remains to see how these chatbots leave up to the expectations of their creators.
