AI Robot to Take Care of UK Prime Minister’s Grandma: Latest Updates on AI

Rishi Sunak – The UK Prime Minister’s address has confirmed the continued concerns among countries on the use of AI robot. While announcing the biggest AI Summit in Britain this coming fall, Sunak confirmed ongoing preparations for the conference that will likely be attended by the US President- Joe Biden to pave the way for a safe and secure AI.

However, while speaking to Politico en route to Washington DC, Sunak confirmed his willingness to allow a robot to teach his children as well as take care of his grandma.

Can AI robot teach children?

AI robots can assist in the education and development of children, but it is important to note that they should not replace human interaction and guidance entirely. AI robots can be programmed to provide educational content, engage in interactive activities, and even personalize the learning experience to some extent. However, the role of human teachers, parents, and caregivers remains crucial in a child’s development.

Emerging Concerns of Unemployment

Sunak’s position has raised concerns over the potential of AI to render most people jobless across different sectors. Some of the giant firms have received the greatest hit in AI job cuts. For instance, British Telecoms (BT) will shed 55,000 employees in 7 years and cut costs due to ChatGPT and AI tools. Similarly, Vodafone will axe more than 10,000 employees within 3 years in the new wave of using AI tools to replace workers.

This may be part of the discussion that the two world leaders will have as the PM pays a visit to the Whitehouse today. Nonetheless, today’s meeting between the two world leaders has largely focused on the Russia-Ukraine war, especially the destruction of the dam in Southern Ukraine.

Politico has further reported the US tech giant – Palantir’s interest in rolling out AI in its European Headquarters.  Data specialist has sounded their warning against the attempts to use Palantir’s software. In as much as the political class is drumming support for AI use and rollout across various industries, workers have more to fear even amidst promises of a safe and secure AI.
